Job Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, as the Sawyer, Joist Production you ensure lumber is sawed accurately according to order specifications using a variety of saws.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing work instructions and determining the accurate lumber required for the job.
  • Inspecting quality and storing lumber in designated areas. Replenishing and organizing raw materials at the station.
  • Ensuring lumber is sawed accurately according to specified dimensions and angles.
  • Examining work orders to determine appropriate procedures and proper setup of equipment.
  • Working safely and complying with all health and safety procedures and policies.

Essential Requirements
  • Completion of middle school, must be able to read and write and perform basic math.
  • Minimum 6 months of sawing experience
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check
  • Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and situational awareness of the physical work environment
  • Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 100 lbs
Preferred Requirements
  • Previous experience using a variety of tools such as nail guns, saws and banding machines is definitely an asset
  • Working in a production plant with lumber is an asset

Work Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours, Monday to Friday. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
